Things to do in Cronulla - The Cronulla Beach Walk

It’s a hot and humid day in Sydney, but that doesn’t stop locals and visitors alike from flocking to the beach. After all, there’s no better way to cool down than a walk along Cronulla Beach. Stretching for over eight kilometres, the white sand and turquoise ocean make for an Instagram-worthy stroll. Keep an eye out for the local surfers, who always give newcomers lessons. And if you get hungry along the way, be sure to stop at one of the many beachside cafes serving up Australian favorites like fish and chips or pies. Whatever your reason for visiting Cronulla, make sure to add a walk on the beach to your itinerary!

About Cronulla Beach Coastal Walk

The Cronulla Beach Walk is a 4.2-kilometre coastal walking track that follows Cronulla’s beautiful coastline for more than four kilometres south from Wanda Beach Surf Lifesaving Club to Bass and Flinders Point, where the Hacking River meets the Tasman Sea.

This picturesque pathway also passes stunning beaches, child-friendly rock pools, parks, playgrounds, cafes and period houses interspersed with lavish new homes and apartments overlooking the water.

The Cronulla Beach Walk takes in many of Cronulla’s most popular attractions, including Shark Park (located on Captain Cook Drive) with its interactive displays; Cronulla Beach with its large rock pool; Montgomery Park (home to Cronulla)

The walk along the shore is always bustling with activity, from locals out for a quick morning stroll or swimmers striking off towards their boat buoy. In the summertime, watch nippers and lifesavers train by taking part in exercises at one of Cronulla’s many beaches while enjoying an early dip before it gets too hot! The footsteps here had echoed since the early 1900s when this place was predominantly used as Sydney’s millionaires’ holiday destination – which remains why you can find so many people who know how enjoyable social walks come together w/ friends here today.

As you continue to walk past the beautiful art deco, Cronulla Lifesaving Club, built in the 1940s, with its new RSL beer garden looming above and taking up one side of this staircase as it winds down from Zimzala restaurant. Shark Island reef break and Blackwoods Beach will be visible as you follow the path. Accessible down rocks or by the following beach back past Nuns Pool – a natural rock pool where nuns would swim and bathe! Next, you’ll spot Shelly Beach and Park with lots of green space, barbequesés and picnic tables for your enjoyment as well! There’s a fabulous gated children’s playground right nearby. Grab a bite to eat at The Nuns Pool Restaurant or head over to Shelly Park Shop for some milkshakes and burgers, then sit back with plenty of chips on the beach!

The small incline up to Bass and Flinders Point will give you information about these two explorers from Captain Cook’s ship, who explored the Port Hacking in 1796. The monument is located at Oak Park ocean pool & barbeque area.

Useful Information
