Signs You Have a Blocked Drain in Castlecrag

Some of the most common signs that you have a blocked drain include:

One of the most common signs of a clogged sewer drain is when water takes longer to go down the drain than usual. If you notice this happening, there is likely a blockage somewhere in your drains.

If a bad smell comes from your drains, it’s another sign that they’re blocked. This is because the water can’t flow properly, so the bad smells are trapped.

If you have a floor drain, you may notice water pooling around it. This is because the water can’t flow down the drain properly, so it’s coming back up. Also, there may be water overflowing from your toilet if it’s located near the floor drain.

With a blocked sewer line, sometimes toilet water can start to rise and fall. The blockage prevents the water from flowing freely, causing a backup. Also, you might notice that your toilet is making strange noises like gurgling.

If you have a blocked stormwater drain, it can cause water to back up and overflow. This can lead to serious flooding.

With all drains, if you notice that they are gurgling, this is another sign of a blockage. This happens because the drain is trying to push water through a blockage, and the pressure causes the gurgling sound. If you notice this, it’s important to call a blocked drains plumber as soon as possible to resolve the issue.

What Could Be Causing Your Drains to Block?

Some of the things that can cause your drains to become blocked are:

If you or your family has put anything other than toilet paper down the loo, this could cause your blockage. Baby wipes, sanitary products, condoms, and cotton buds should never be flushed as they don’t break down as toilet paper does. This can quickly lead to a blockage.

Wet wipes are often advertised as being “flushable.” However, this is not always the case. Wet wipes can cause serious clogs in your drains and should be thrown in the trash instead.

If you have a lot of people using your toilets, then this could cause your drains to block. Toilet paper shouldn’t be a problem if it’s used in moderation, but if you have a lot of people going to the toilet, this could quickly lead to a blockage.

Hair is the main culprit when it comes to blocked drains for many people. Hair can quickly build up and cause a blockage. If you have long hair, then it’s especially important to make sure that you’re clearing it away regularly.

If there are trees near your home, their roots can grow into your drains and cause a blockage. This is more likely to happen if your drains are old or damaged. Also, if there’s a crack in your sewer pipe, tree roots can get into the pipe and cause a blockage.

Food scraps should never be put down the drain. They can cause a build-up of grease, which can then lead to a blockage. Also, if you have a garbage disposal, it should never be used as a substitute for a trash can.

Grease can quickly build up in your drains and cause a blockage. This is especially important to remember if you use your sink for cooking. Also, if you have a dishwasher, ensure you use the grease trap.

If your drains are constantly backing up or becoming blocked, it could indicate that your pipes are broken. Also, if you notice any water leaks, this is another indication that your pipes may be damaged.

Steps to Prevent a Blocked Drain in Castlecrag

Several things can cause a clogged drain, but there are some steps you can take to prevent it from happening in the first place.

01

Use A Drain Strainer

It will catch any food scraps, hair, or other small items before they can go down the drain and cause a blockage. Also, make sure to clean out the drain strainer regularly.

02

Do Not Dispose Of The Cooking Grease Down the Kitchen Sink

Cooking grease is one of the main culprits of blocked drains. When hot grease cools, it hardens and can cling to the sides of your pipes. Over time, this build-up can lead to a blocked sewer line. To avoid this, pour cooking grease into a heat-resistant container and dispose of it in the garbage.

03

Pour Boiling Water Down the Kitchen Drains

Pouring boiling water down the drain regularly can help break up grease or other materials clinging to the pipes’ sides.

04

Never Flush Non-Toilet Paper Products Down the Toilet

Things like feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, paper towels, and flushable wipes should never be flushed down the toilet. They can cause serious drain blockages.

05

Schedule Regular Drain Maintenance With A Professional Plumber

To help keep your drains flowing freely, it is important to have them cleaned and inspected regularly. A professional plumber can identify any potential issues and resolve them before they cause a blockage. Contact MPJ Plumbing today to schedule drain maintenance for your home or business.

Castlecrag Helpful Information

“Castlecrag is a suburb located in the north of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The population of Castlecrag was 1,547 as at the 2016 census. Castlecrag is located within the local government area of the City of Willoughby and is situated approximately 9 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district.

Castlecrag is a small suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is 9 kilometres from the Sydney CBD and is in the local government area of Willoughby. At the 2016 census, Castlecrag had a population of 1,547.

The suburb was named after Crag Castle, a castle in Scotland which was the home of Andrew Leslie, a general in the British Army who fought in the Napoleonic Wars and against the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Leslie later moved to Australia and was granted 2,000 acres (8 km²) in the area that is now Castlecrag. He built Crag Castle in 1872 on land that now forms part of Davidson Park. The castle was demolished in 1933.

The first residents moved into what is now called Castlecrag in 1924 when developer Andrew Eason subdivided his property into lots and built 23 homes. The subdivision was originally called Eason Heights but was renamed Castlecrag in 1925 by Eason’s wife, who thought it sounded more Scottish than English.

Castlecrag Post Office opened on 1 August 1925 and closed in 1967.

Castlecrag has bushland on two sides and overlooks Middle Harbour. It has walking paths and a few tennis courts. The only commercial centre is an IGA supermarket at the southern end of the suburb near Willoughby Road.”
